(Detail: Stephen Antonakos, Untitled Greek Travel Collages, 1989 – 2000)
On the first day of the exhibition a tourist caught a cab from the Strip to see our Vogels.
Of course it was wonderful. Our first day and already we were giving pleasure.
She thought the stamps in the Stephen Antonakos collages might have been illustrated by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Glaswegian architect and designer who died in 1928.
(There are other objects in the collages. Such as soap.)
We couldn’t find anything conclusively for or against the tourist’s theory.
But attention to detail is good when you meet it.
