You have to cover your tracks. Just to put down a brushstroke oftentimes isn’t that interesting. It’s playing with it and seeing what you can get out of it. Discovering it for yourself, because really for the artist it’s the doing that’s important, and when it defies you to go any further, then, conceivably, it’s done.
