Ali Smith, Half-Life, 2007, from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation

Two people from this group visited the museum a few months ago when we were between shows. The gallery looked so bare that some of us wondered if they were going to come back. They were planning an art tour of Las Vegas, they said: themselves and their friends. Where were they from? Arizona.

This morning they returned. Where else are you going to go? we asked. Springs Preserve, they said, the Arts District, P3 Studio at the Cosmopolitan, maybe the Neon Museum. Akhob at Louis Vuitton? Akhob is closed today. Some other time.

What did they like about the city or the Barrick? The art, they said. The color, they said. It’s free, they said, and nothing is free in Vegas. Then they were at the Art Bar and it was all glue from there.
